To know Fall is to love Fall, and to know Fall is to experience it in nature. This past weekend I drove to Ridgway; I couldn't wait to catch a glimpse of the changing Aspens.

Like a light switch, I'm all of sudden seeing yellow. Yellow leaves everywhere. Maybe I'm paranoid, maybe I'm looking for it now versus earlier. But the signs of Fall are here.

Go Durango: Sept 18 - 24

There's two events happening this weekend that I really enjoyed last year: the Friday night session of the Women Outside Adventure Forum was sooo good and so inspiring. I also really enjoyed the Durango Open Studio Tour; such a fun way to visit with local artists.

Hello September!

Oh my gosh we have so many events on the calendar, it's making my head spin! I thought we would just drift off into a Fall slumber, but it feels like there's more events than ever, specifically art & music events (which I love.)

Durango: August 21 - 27

Another weeknd, another alpine lake hike (or two.) I swear I do more than just hike/run trails although that seems to be a big part of it. Working as a raft guide last Summer disallowed me from spending time in the mountains, so I'm trying to make the most of it this year.

Hello lovely Durangoans. Another week of Summer gone; is it just me or is it starting to feel like Fall already? Although the promised rains never came, these cloudy cooler days are making me feel all the feels.

I hiked an alpine lake I've had my eye on for a few weeks, and it was incredible. This was my first named alpine lake hike, so I have very little to compare it to . . . but the color of the water was absolutely stunning, as were the views throughout the hike.

Things I love about the height of Summer: not having to wear a jacket at night (this doesn't happen for me often), days so long you you feel like you can accomplish anything and still be home before dark, finally being able to wade into the Animas without your feet going numb,

I've got water activities on my mind, as I'm currently on a rafting trip on the Colorado. Of course these peak Summer temperatures have all us wondering: when is Monsoon season again? "Have you ever seen the rain?"

Another weekend, another mountain conquered! I hiked my first fourteener on Saturday - Handies peak! Of course going with Running Club friends meant we hiked the longer route from Grouse Gulch making the effort about 9.5 miles and 4,500 feet of elevation gain.

Guys, I have something very important to tell you. It's mountain season. Yes, that's right. I made it on top of a few mountain peaks yesterday and it made my heart sing. Why? Because we've had so much snow this winter, I honestly thought I'd have to wait until August (or maybe next year.)

Suddenly I feel pulled in a hundred different directions, and I'm here for it. 'Cause this girl likes to get out there. Like on Saturday, when I finally decided to take a solo van trip to Creede and Lake City . . . and then Crested Butte because why not!

Hot diggity dog it's definitely Summer. Can you feel it? There was a time when I was craving the hot sunshiney heat. That craving is no longer! This time of year calls for trail runs in the morning, feet in the river, hikes in the Alpine (hopefully soon), and live music in the evenings.

Well whoops! The newsletter is late today. Just got back into town after spending 5 glorious days camping, dancing, and freezin in Telluride for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. It was my first time attending and yes, I now understand why people make this event an annual tradition.

Ahh River Days, one of the events that makes Durango, Durango. A celebration of the river and the people who love it. I was fortunate to float in this year's parade, and I must say, it's much more fun than being a spectator.

Community Concerts in the Secret Garden

July is in full swing and we have more live music coming to Durango, this time in the Secret Garden at the Rochester Hotel. I've never been to this locally infamous spot, so I'm excited to check it out! The first community concert is this Wednesday and occurs every Wednesday until August 17th.

Music in the Mountains

(And other events the week of July 4th) I hope everyone had a great July 4th! I know I did. I rafted on the Animas and then drove up to Silverton last-minute to catch their infamous fireworks show. It did not disappoint and will be something I recommend for next
