Hello September

Now that Labor Day is behind us and school is back in session, it seems many are anticipating Fall. A gentle PSA that even though PSL's (pumpkin spice lattes) might be dominating your timeline, Fall doesn't officially start until September 22nd. That's right! You still have a bit of Summer left, even if that freak hail storm we had a week or so ago made you think otherwise.

So whether you're looking forward to Fall or lamenting the end of Summer (or both), I think the month of September brings the best of both seasons. Here's why:

Celebrating Pride

Even though June is Pride month in the US, Durango has elected to celebrate Pride in September. Several events are planned between Thursday, September 8th and Sunday, September 11th. See DurangoPride.com for more info.

Live Music is Back at the ACT

Although weekly live music at places like James Ranch ended on Labor Day, September means concerts are coming back to Animas City Theater. The first show is this Friday featuring High Country Hustle and People We Know. Tickets for this and other shows can be purchased here.

Festivals and Farmers Markets

Some events we typically associate with Summer like farmers markets and festivals are continuing. The Durango Farmers market, for example, runs until the end of October. Additionally we have the popular Telluride Blues and Brews festival (September 16-18) as well as many Oktoberfest festivals in Colorado happening this month. Although Durango doesn't have an official Oktoberfest celebration, most local breweries (if not all), have already starting pouring their special fall-flavored beer.
